Minister Wright highlighted: Signage for use inside and outside of taxis, showing video surveillance and satellite tracking system symbols, along with the statement "We've got you covered!" A television commercial designed to reinforce perceptions that taxis are safe and secure for everyone and which will also encourage people to assist taxi drivers by leaving porch lights on at night. Many taxis throughout metropolitan Adelaide currently have video surveillance and by 1 December 2002 all taxis will be fitted with them. Taxi drivers are also part of Taxi Watch, a Community Policing Scheme, to work together with police to help reduce crime and to assist the public during personal emergencies.
